Δελτίο Τύπου της ΕΟΕ. Τα μεγάλα προβλήματα που αντιμετωπίζει ο ελληνικός αθλητισμός ήταν το θέμα της σημερινής έκτακτης Ολομέλειας της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής, στην οποία παρέστη και ο Γενικός Γραμματέας Αθλητισμού κ. Παναγιώτης Μπιτσαξής.
Καλεσμένοι ήταν επίσης αθλητές και αθλήτριες, προπονητές, τα προεδρεία των Αθλητικών Ομοσπονδιών, αλλά και εκπρόσωποι των εργαζομένων στις Αθλητικές Ομοσπονδίες.
Τη θέση της ΕΟΕ για τα προβλήματα του ελληνικού αθλητισμού αποτύπωσε ο Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Ολυμπιακής Επιτροπής κ. Σπύρος Καπράλος, στην εναρκτήρια τοποθέτηση του.
«H σημερινή συνεδρίαση είναι έκτακτη καθώς έκτακτα είναι τα νέα προβλήματα του ελληνικού αθλητισμού. Οι οικονομικές δυσκολίες είναι γνωστές σε όλους με αποτέλεσμα να μην μπορούν να υλοποιήσουν οι Αθλητικές Ομοσπονδίες τους εγκεκριμένους προϋπολογισμούς ενώ ήδη έχουν πραγματοποιηθεί έξοδα, τα οποία καλούνται να καλύψουν οι Ομοσπονδίες. Είναι ένα τεράστιο αδιέξοδο το οποίο πρέπει σήμερα να αντιμετωπίσουμε όλοι μας.
Αναγνωρίζουμε τις οικονομικές δυσκολίες που έχει η χώρα και αναρωτιόμαστε εάν ο αθλητισμός είναι πολυτέλεια, όταν δεν υπάρχουν χρήματα για την υγεία, για την παιδεία, για τις συντάξεις. Εμείς στην Ελληνική Ολυμπιακή Επιτροπή θεωρούμε ότι ο αθλητισμός δεν είναι πολυτέλεια, ο αθλητισμός είναι ένα κοινωνικό αγαθό και πρέπει η Πολιτεία να συνεχίσει να το ενισχύει.
Ωστόσο, πρέπει η Πολιτεία να μας πει με ειλικρίνεια τι θέλει και τι μπορεί να κάνει. Ξαφνικά οι Ομοσπονδίες ειδοποιήθηκαν ότι δεν μπορούν να πάρουν τα υπόλοιπα χρήματα του εγκεκριμένου προϋπολογισμού τους, παρότι έχουν κάνει τα έξοδα αυτά και ήδη έχουν ανειλημμένες υποχρεώσεις. Επίσης κανείς δεν ξέρει τι κονδύλι θα μπει στον αθλητισμό για το 2012, ώστε να υπολογίσει τις επόμενες κινήσεις του.
Το 2012 είναι μια πολύ σημαντική χρονιά, καθώς είναι χρονιά Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων και για μας στην ΕΟΕ είναι κάτι περισσότερο, καθώς όπως γνωρίζετε όλοι, η χώρα μας συμμετέχει ανελλιπώς από το 1896 στο κορυφαίο αθλητικό γεγονός. Δεν συμμερίζομαι τις απόψεις ορισμένων, ότι πρέπει να χρησιμοποιηθεί η ενδεχόμενη αποχή από τους Ολυμπιακούς ως μοχλός πίεσης προς την Πολιτεία, εάν δεν δοθούν χρήματα. Σας λέω ότι η Ελλάδα θα συμμετάσχει στους Ολυμπιακούς, όπως και να έχει. Η Ελληνική Ολυμπιακή Επιτροπή θα στείλει ομάδα στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες.
Επίσης αυτό που θέλω να πω στον κύριο Γενικό είναι ότι δεν πρέπει να απογοητεύσουμε όλους όσοι προσπαθούν τόσα χρόνια για να φτάσουν τους αθλητές τόσο ψηλά. Τους αθλητές πρώτα από όλα, τους προπονητές τους και τις Ομοσπονδίες που έχουν δουλέψει με κόπο και ιδρώτα εδώ και πάρα πολλά χρόνια, καθώς όπως γνωρίζετε μια επιτυχία είναι προϊόν σκληρής δουλειάς που έχει για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα. Εδώ που έχουμε φτάσει δεν πρέπει να χυθεί το γάλα από την καρδάρα!
Απαιτούμε να δοθούν χρήματα σε όλες τις Ομοσπονδίες για να καλύψουν τα ταξίδια που έχουν σχέση με τις προκρίσεις των αθλητών στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Λονδίνου. Είναι σημαντικό, γιατί από εδώ και πέρα υπάρχουν αποστολές που θα διεκδικήσουν πρόκριση στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες και μέσα στο 2011 και στο 2012.
Η ΕΟΕ έχει εξασφαλίσει χρήματα από χορηγίες, τα οποία πηγαίνουν και θα πηγαίνουν αποκλειστικά για την προετοιμασία των αθλητών και των αθλητριών καθώς η Ολομέλεια έχει δεσμευθεί ότι όσα χρήματα εξασφαλίζει, θα πηγαίνουν μόνο για τους αθλητές. Οι επιτυχίες που έχει ο ελληνικός αθλητισμός το 2011, οι οποίες δεν είναι μόνο σε άνδρες και γυναίκες αλλά επεκτείνονται σε μεγάλο βάθος και πλάτος, είναι το μοναδικό φωτεινό σημείο στην Ελλάδα του σήμερα.
Σας παρακαλούμε να μην συνηγορήσετε εσείς κύριε Μπιτσαξή και η Πολιτεία στην καταστροφή του ελληνικού αθλητισμού. Σας έχουμε ζητήσει και παρακαλούμε και πάλι, να γίνουν πράγματα, που δεν έχουν σχέση με το οικονομικό. Επαναφέρετε τα κίνητρα στον ελληνικό αθλητισμό. Είναι κάτι που δεν έχει κόστος ή έχει ελάχιστο, ενώ ο αντίκτυπος του θα είναι τεράστιος στην καρδιά του αθλητισμού! Ξέρετε πολύ καλά τι να κάνετε. Από τη μεριά μας σας λέμε: κόψτε μισθούς υψηλά αμειβομένων υπαλλήλων, περιορίστε το πλεονάζον προσωπικό, είτε στην ΓΓΑ, είτε στα στάδια, είτε στις Ομοσπονδίες, όπου τέλος πάντων υπάρχει. Κόψτε σπατάλες, κόψτε αργομισθίες, κόψτε τα εκτός έδρας, αλλά μην κόβετε τα χρήματα από τον αμιγώς ερασιτεχνικό αθλητισμό
Πρέπει ο αθλητισμός να επιζήσει τις δύσκολες αυτές στιγμές καθώς η ικανοποίηση και η χαρά που φέρνουν οι επιτυχίες των Ελλήνων αθλητών δεν έχουν αντάλλαγμα», κατέληξε ο κ. Καπράλος.
Στη συνέχεια, έγινε διάλογος με όλους τους παρισταμένους, ανάλυση των προβλημάτων και προτάσεις για το μέλλον.
