Ο τερματισμός στην Κλασσικό Μαραθώνιο είναι για πολλούς Έλληνες ένα όνειρο ζωής και όλοι μας θαυμάζουμε απεριόριστα τους μαραθωνοδρόμους, ιδίως τους ανθρώπους της διπλανής πόρτας που καταφέρνουν παράλληλα με τις επαγγελματικές, προσωπικές και κοινωνικές υποχρεώσεις να καταφέρουν να κάνουν την καθημερινή απαιτητική προπόνηση που απαιτείται για την ολοκλήρωση ενός μαραθωνίου.
Πως θα σας φαινόταν εάν σας λέγαμε ότι για κάποιους τα 42,195 μέτρα του μαραθωνίου είναι το 1/3 της προσπάθειας τους;
Πως θα σας φαινόταν εάν σας αναφέραμε ότι ένα ζευγάρι / οικογένεια με παιδί 5 ετών ετοιμάζεται για ένα αγώνα Ironman, δηλαδή αγώνα με κολύμβηση 3,8χλμ, ποδηλασία 180 χιλιομέτρων και τρέξιμο 42,195 χλμ και αυτά το ένα μετά το άλλο χωρίς διακοπή;
Αλλά ας πάρουμε τα πράγματα από την αρχή. Η Νατάσσα Θάνου είχε ως αθλητική ενασχόληση το τρέξιμο μεγάλων αποστάσεων και ο μεγάλος της στόχος ήταν η ολοκλήρωση/ τερματισμός στο Σπάρταθλο.
Ο σύζυγός της Αντρέας Γκίκας που ήταν ήδη αθλητής Τριάθλου της ζήτησε μία μέρα να κάνει προπόνηση με την ομάδα του, την Athens Triathlon. Σταδιακά οι περιστασιακές προπονήσεις με την ομάδα Τριάθλου έγιναν μόνιμες και η Νατάσσα χωρίς να έχει ξανασχοληθεί με κολύμβηση και ποδηλασία κατάφερε να τερματίσει 3 πολύ απαιτητικούς και υψηλό ανταγωνισμό αγώνες Ironman 70.3 όπως το περίφημο Collins Cup στο Samorin της Σλοβακίας και το περίφημο Challenge Almere, στην Ολλανδία και στην Βουλιαγμένη και κάθε φορά βελτιώνοντας τα αποτελέσματά της.
Τώρα, και οι δυο τους προετοιμάζονται ώστε τον Μάρτιο του 2023 να πάνε στη Νέα Ζηλανδία και να συμμετέχουν στο Ironman της Νέας Ζηλανδίας. Συμμετέχουν στο προπονητικό camp στην Καλαμάτα για τρίτη φορά και στόχος είναι να έχουν ένα τριήμερο με πολύ υψηλά προπονητικά φορτία που θα τους ετοιμάσει για τον αγώνα στη Νέα Ζηλανδία.
Το Triathlon World επικοινώνησε και με τους δύο και τους ζήτησε να μας μιλήσουν για την καθημερινότητα τους, τι απαιτεί η προετοιμασία τους και πως καταφέρνουν να ανταπεξέλθουν στις δυσκολίες της καθημερινότητας.
Η κα. Νατάσα Θάνου μας είπε : “Πριν ένα χρόνο οι κολυμβητικές μου δεξιότητες ήταν περιορισμένες και δεν ήμουν και πολύ σίγουρη εάν θα μπορούσα να ισορροπήσω σε ένα ποδήλατο χρονομέτρου πάνω στις αερόμπαρες. Όλα ξεκίνησαν από μία προπόνηση και τώρα πλέον το τρίαθλο έχει γίνει τρόπος ζωής».
Αναφορικά με τις δυσκολίες της καθημερινότητας ανέφερε : “Είναι πολύ ωραίο ότι με τον σύζυγο μου μοιραζόμαστε μερικές έντονες εμπειρίες από αγώνες καθώς και ότι ετοιμαζόμαστε για τον ίδιο αγώνα. Όμως με δεδομένο ότι το παιδί είναι η απόλυτη προτεραιότητα και οι δύο έχουμε έντονες επαγγελματικές υποχρεώσεις αυτό απαιτεί πολύ καλό καθημερινό προγραμματισμό και συντονισμό. Ακόμα και τις ημέρες που δεν εργαζόμαστε πρέπει ο ένας να φροντίζει το παιδί όσο ο άλλος κάνει προπόνηση»
Ο Αντρέας Γκίκας αναφορικά με το πόσο ιδιαίτερο είναι η κοινή προετοιμασία για τον ίδιο αγώνα με την γυναίκα του : «Είναι πράγματι πολύ ιδιαίτερο και μοναδικό αλλά απαιτεί πολύ πειθαρχία όχι μόνο τις ώρες τις προπόνησης αλλά σε όλο το 24ωρο. Το συναίσθημα να συναντιόμαστε πάνω στις ποδηλατικές ή δρομικές των αγώνων είναι μοναδική και αξέχαστη εμπειρία. Είμαι πολύ χαρούμενος που η γυναίκα μου ασχολείται με το Τρίαθλο που για εμένα ήταν τρόπος ζωής και φυσικά περήφανος για την εκπληκτική πρόοδό της τους τελευταίους μήνες».
