ΔΕΛΤΙΟ ΤΥΠΟΥ
Το κέντρο της Αθήνας θα υποδεχθεί την Κυριακή 17 Απριλίου στην πλατεία Συντάγματος περισσότερους από 15.000 χιλιάδες ποδηλάτες, μικρούς και μεγάλους, οι οποίοι θα ξεχυθούν στους δρόμους της πρωτεύουσας και θα ποδηλατίσουν για τους Γιατρούς του Κόσμου.
Ο Ποδηλατικός Γύρος, ο οποίος διοργανώνεται από τον Οργανισμός Πολιτισμού, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας του Δήμου Αθηναίων, αποτελεί το κορυφαίο αθλητικό γεγονός της Αθήνας για το ποδήλατο και είναι ο πλέον μαζικός και ιστορικός θεσμός της πόλης σε επίπεδο τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης. Από το 1987 αποτελεί αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι της ζωής και της ιστορίας της πρωτεύουσας, όπου χιλιάδες κόσμου πλημμυρίζουν τους δρόμους της Αθήνας, ποδηλατώντας με ασφάλεια, κέφι και ζωντάνια, δίνοντας μια διαφορετική εικόνα στην πόλη
Ο 23ος Ποδηλατικός Γύρος της Αθήνας αντικατοπτρίζει την κοινωνική προσπάθεια του Οργανισμού και έχει έναν ιδιαίτερο σκοπό: όσοι συμμετέχοντες επιθυμούν καταβάλλουν για τη συμμετοχή τους 1€, με το οποίο ενισχύεται οικονομικά ο ξενώνας των Γιατρών του Κόσμου. Ο ξενώνας δημιουργήθηκε με σκοπό την παροχή φιλοξενίας σε ξεχωριστούς κοιτώνες ατόμων με έλλειψη στέγης, καθώς και ατόμων επαπειλούμενης στέγασης, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση σε οικογένειες με παιδιά, αλλά και σε μεμονωμένα άτομα.
Τηνεκκίνηση θα δώσει οδήμαρχος Αθηναίων Γιώργος Καμίνης στις 9.30 το πρωί στην πλατεία Συντάγματος.

Την ημέρα της εκδήλωσης θα πραγματοποιούνται εγγραφές για όλες τις διαδρομές στη γραμματεία του αγώνα στην πλατεία Συντάγματος, από τις 7:00 έως 8:30 π.μ.

Μια μεγάλη γιορτή για το ποδήλατο στην Πλατεία Συντάγματος, 16 & 17 Απριλίου από τις Σάββατο 16/4, 10:00-19:00, Κυριακή 17/4, 9:00-18:00
Ο Οργανισμός και το περιοδικό MBike δημιουργούν ένα Σαββατοκύριακο αφιερωμένο στο ποδήλατο, με εκδηλώσεις που έχουν ως στόχο την ευαισθητοποίηση των πολιτών όσον αφορά στη χρήση του ποδηλάτου τόσο για τις αστικές μετακινήσεις τους, όσο και ως μέσο άσκησης, άθλησης και αναψυχής.
Τι θα κάνετε; Θα δείτε τις εξελίξεις και τις τάσεις στα ποδήλατα, τα διαφορετικά είδη ποδηλάτου και θα ενημερωθείτε για τα απαραίτητα αξεσουάρ τα οποία θα κάνουν τη ζωή σας με το ποδήλατο ακόμη πιο ευχάριστη, θα γνωρίσετε τα ηλεκτρικά ποδήλατα ή e-bikes, που είναι μια ανερχόμενη τάση στο χώρο της αστικής ποδηλασίας, θα αφήσετε τους μικρούς ποδηλάτες να παίξουν και μάθουν τους κανόνες ασφάλειας και της σωστής οδικής αγωγής, υπό την καθοδήγηση και επίβλεψη έμπειρων δασκάλων.
Ακόμη, θα υπάρχει ένας χώρος ειδικά για τις γυναίκες που αγαπούν το ποδήλατο στον οποίο παρουσιάζονται γυναικεία ποδήλατα, αξεσουάρ σχεδιασμένα για κυρίες, συμβουλές που καλύπτουν τις γυναικείες ανάγκες.
Και βέβαια, δε θα μπορούσαν να λείπουν από το Bike Weekend τα Athens Bikes της Τεχνόπολης του Δήμου Αθηναίων, όπου θα ενημερωθείτε και θα ανακαλύψετε τις διαδρομές που μπορείτε να κάνετε με το πρώτο σύστημα bike sharing της πόλης.
Με το ποδήλατό τους ή όχι, οι Αθηναίοι θα ζήσουν ένα Σαββατοκύριακο αφιερωμένο στο ποδήλατο γεμάτο δράσεις, happening και… ποδήλατα!
Ο Pepper 966 θα μεταδίδει ζωντανά από την «γραμμή της εκκίνησης» στην πλατεία Συντάγματος με τους Λιάνα Μαστάθη, και Κοσμά Δεβελέγκα από τις 8:30 έως τις 12:30, ενώ ο Δημήτρης Λεμονίδης θα βρίσκεται στο station της πλατείας Κλαυθμώνος με αγαπημένες Pepper μουσικές.
Στην πλατεία Συντάγματος θα βρίσκεται και η ομάδα κρουστών Batala Atenas, που θα ξεσηκώνουν τους ποδηλάτες με τη δυναμική μουσική τους.
