Παρακολουθώντας τις τελευταίες εξελίξεις στα Διοικητικά της Ελληνικής Ομοσπονδίας Ποδηλασίας με την άνεση της εσκεμμένης τριετούς αποχής μου από την κεντρική Διοίκηση και την εμπειρία της 35τους εμπλοκής μου στην ποδηλασία, θεωρώ ότι έφθασε η ώρα να συστρατευθούμε όλες οι υγιείς δυνάμεις του αθλήματος, προκειμένου να ανατάξουμε και να αποτελματώσουμε το άθλημά μας.
Εδώ που έχουμε φθάσει πρέπει ο καθένας και η καθεμιά να υπερβάλλουμε εαυτόν, να παραμερίσουμε προσωπικές εμπάθειες και αντιπάθειες, να συμβιβάσουμε αντικρουόμενες τάσεις και να ενώσουμε σε μια κοινή πορεία όλους τους ικανούς παράγοντες του αθλήματος.
Με γνώμονα λοιπόν αυτή την πεποίθηση, δηλώνω παρών στο προσκλητήριο και αποδεχόμενος την πρόταση των συναδέλφων μου, αναλαμβάνω την ουσιαστική ευθύνη να ηγηθώ στον υψηλό στόχο ανασυγκρότησης του αθλήματος. Οι στιγμές είναι κρίσιμες και κανένας δεν περισσεύει σ’ αυτήν την εθνική προσπάθεια. Πάτρα 17 Νοεμβρίου 2015

Μετά την κατάθεση πρότασης για άμεση προσφυγή στις κάλπες, είναι θέμα ωρών για να ανακοινώσει ο νυν πρόεδρος Τερζής, την ημερομηνία που τα σωματεία της Ε.Ο.Π. θα οδηγηθούν στις κάλπες. Ο Βασίλης Διαμαντόπουλος κατάγεται από την Πάτρα, όπου και διαμένει, και αποτελεί μέλος της διοίκησης του Ποδηλατικού Ομίλου Πατρών για πάρα πολλά έτη. Αποτέλεσε βασικό στέλεχος της κίνησης “Ποδηλασία Ξανά” στις αρχαιρεσίες του 2012. Έχει θητεύσει επίσης αρκετές φορές σε προηγούμενες διοικήσεις της Ελληνικής Ομοσπονδίας καθώς επίσης αποτελεί και ένα από τα πιο ενεργά στελέχη της Τοπικής Επιτροπής Ποδηλασίας Πελοπονήσου και Δυτικής Ελλάδος.
