Ομιλία με θέμα «Tα Μικρόβια και ο Άνθρωπος» από τους καθηγητές Νίκο Λεγάκη και Στέλιο Χατζηπαναγιώτου, θα πραγματοποιηθεί σε ειδική εκδήλωση την Τετάρτη 20 Νοεμβρίου 2013 και ώρα 18:30, στο  Ίδρυμα Ευγενίδου (Λεωφ. Συγγρού 387, 175 64 Π. Φάληρο).

 

Δύο αξιόλογοι επιστήμονες, ο ομότιμος καθηγητής μικροβιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών Νίκος Λεγάκης και ο αναπληρωτής καθηγητής μικροβιολογίας του πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών Στέλιος Χατζηπαναγιώτου, επιχειρούν να μας γνωρίσουν με τον κόσμο των μικροβίων. Έναν κόσμο που, ενώ ξέρουμε ότι υπάρχει γύρω μας, επάνω μας και μέσα μας, δεν γνωρίζουμε και πολλά για αυτόν.

 

Πρόεδρος και συντονιστής της εκδήλωσης είναι ο κύριος Δημήτριος Τριχόπουλος, Καθηγητής του Πανεπιστημίου Harvard, Τακτικό Μέλος της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών και Αντεπιστέλλον Μέλος της Εθνικής  Ακαδημίας Ιατρικής της Γαλλίας  και της Βασιλικής Ακαδημίας Ιατρικής του Βελγίου.

 

Η εκδήλωση γίνεται με την ευκαιρία κυκλοφορίας του βιβλίου τους «Τα μικρόβια και ο άνθρωπος».Το βιβλίο, χρησιμοποιώντας γλώσσα απλή και κυρίως κατανοητή, προσεγγίζει την έννοια των μικροβίων από όλες τις μεριές, μιας και δεν υπάρχουν μόνο τα παθογόνα, που γνωρίζουμε, αλλά και τα «καλά» μικρόβια, τα οποία είναι κατά πολύ περισσότερα από τα πρώτα και χωρίς τα οποία δεν θα υπήρχε ζωή στον πλανήτη μας.

 

Οι δυο συγγραφείς, οι οποίοι συνεργάστηκαν άψογα, καταφέρνοντας να «μπει» ο ένας στο μυαλό του άλλου, την ημέρα αυτή θα σταθούν στα κυριότερα σημεία του βιβλίου και θα συνομιλήσουν με το κοινό, ώστε να βοηθήσουν  όλους εκείνους, που δεν είναι εξοικειωμένοι με τα μικρόβια  να ενημερωθούν  τόσο για τα καλά όσο και για τα παθογόνα μικρόβια, καθώς επίσης για το «δίδυμο» δημόσια υγεία-πρόληψη, τονίζοντας  ότι η γνώση βοηθάει στην υγειονομική «θωράκιση» του κάθε ανθρώπου, του κάθε σπιτιού χωριστά αλλά και όλης της χώρας.

 

Ξεκινώντας από αυτό που ο θεμελιωτής της Μικροβιολογίας Louis Pasteur συνήθιζε να λέει, ότι η ζωή στον άνθρωπο είναι μικροβιακή – La vie c’ est bacterienne –  θα τονιστεί  η καθοριστική σημασία της φυσιολογικής μικροβιακής χλωρίδας του ανθρώπου για την εξέλιξη και τη διατήρηση της  υγείας του. Σημειώνεται σχετικά ότι ο αριθμός των ωφέλιμων μικροβίων που φυσιολογικά έχει ο κάθε άνθρωπος είναι 10 φορές περισσότερος από τον αριθμό των κυττάρων του ανθρωπίνου σώματος.

 

Ιδιαίτερη σημασία θα δοθεί και στα «κακά» μικρόβια, στις λοιμώξεις που προκαλούν και ιδιαίτερα στον τρόπο μετάδοσης και στην προφύλαξη από αυτά. Ας μην ξεχνάμε ότι οι λοιμώξεις αποτέλεσαν την κυριότερη αιτία αφανισμού ολόκληρων πληθυσμών με τη μορφή επιδημιών ή πανδημιών και διαμόρφωσαν την παγκό­σμια ιστορία της ανθρωπότητας. Ακόμη και σήμερα, τα μικρόβια, δι­ατηρώντας το πλεονέκτημα του «απροσδόκητου» και του «αναπάντε­χου» μάς οδηγούν συχνά σε αδιέξοδες καταστάσεις, προκαλώντας δυσεπίλυτα προβλήματα στον τομέα της Δημόσιας Υγείας.

ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΑ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΜΑΤΑ

 

Ο ΝΙ­ΚΟ­ΛΑ­ΟΣ–ΣΤΕ­ΦΑ­ΝΟΣ Ι. ΛΕ­ΓΑ­ΚΗΣ είναι Ομό­τι­μος Κα­θη­γη­τής Μι­κρο­βιο­λο­γί­ας της Ια­τρι­κής Σχο­λής του Πα­νε­πι­στη­μί­ου Αθη­νών, Επί­τι­μος Πρό­ε­δρος της Ελ­λη­νι­κής Μι­κρο­βιο­λο­γι­κής Εται­ρεί­ας και της Πα­νελ­λή­νιας Ένω­σης Ια­τρι­κής Βιο­πα­θο­λο­γί­ας. Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1939, σπούδασε Ιατρική στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών από όπου αποφοίτησε το 1963 και ειδικεύθηκε στη Μικροβιολογία  στο Νοσοκομείο «Αλεξάνδρα» και στο Εργαστήριο Μικροβιολογίας της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Με­τεκ­παι­δεύ­τη­κε στο Ηνω­μέ­νο Βα­σί­λειο, στην Ελ­βε­τία, στη Γερ­μα­νία, και στην Αμε­ρι­κή. Διετέλεσε Δι­δά­κτωρ (1966), Υφη­γη­τής (1977), Επί­κου­ρος Κα­θη­γη­τής (1982), Ανα­πλη­ρω­τής Κα­θη­γη­τής (1991), Τα­κτι­κός Κα­θη­γη­τής (1995). Δια­τέ­λε­σε επίσης Πρό­ε­δρος της Ελ­λη­νι­κής Μι­κρο­βιο­λο­γι­κής Εται­ρεί­ας , της Ευ­ρω­παϊ­κής Εται­ρεί­ας Χη­μειο­θε­ρα­πεί­ας και Λοι­μώ­ξε­ων και της Βαλκανικής Εταιρείας Μικροβιολογίας, Αντι­πρό­ε­δρος του Κέ­ντρου Ελέγ­χου και Πρό­λη­ψης Νο­ση­μά­των, του Ανω­τά­του Επι­στη­μο­νι­κού Συμ­βού­λου Υγεί­ας, και της Κε­ντρι­κής Επι­τρο­πής Νο­σο­κο­μεια­κών Λοι­μώ­ξε­ων, μέλος της Εθνικής Επιτροπής Δεοντολογίας του ΕΟΦ, καθώς και Εκ­πρό­σω­πος της Ελ­λη­νι­κής Μι­κρο­βιο­λο­γί­ας σε πολ­λούς Διε­θνείς Ορ­γα­νι­σμούς (FEMS, ESCMID, ISC). Έχει συγ­γρά­ψει 10 επι­στη­μο­νι­κά βι­βλία και πλέον των 200 ερευ­νη­τι­κών άρ­θρων στο διεθνή επιστημονικό τύπο.

 

Ο ΣΤΕΛΙΟΣ ΧΑΤΖΗΠΑΝΑΓΙΩΤΟΥ είναι Ιατρός Βιοπαθολόγος – Κλινικός Μικροβιολόγος, και Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Μικροβιολογίας στην Ιατρική Σχολή της Αθήνας. Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα, αποφοίτησε από το εξατάξιο Γυμνάσιο της Γερμανικής Σχολής Αθηνών και σπούδασε Ιατρική στο Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Εργάσθηκε για πέντε χρόνια ως έμμισθος επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στα Πανεπιστήμια Göttingen και Wϋrzburg της Γερμανίας, όπου και απέκτησε τον τίτλο του διδάκτορος της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου του Göttingen και την ειδικότητα της Εργαστηριακής Ιατρικής (Βιοπαθολογίας). Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα εργάσθηκε περίπου 10 χρόνια στο Εθνικό Σύστημα Υγείας (ΕΣΥ) και στον ιδιωτικό τομέα, και από το 1999 μέχρι σήμερα υπηρετεί ως μέλος του Διδακτικού και Ερευνητικού Προσωπικού (ΔΕΠ) στην Ιατρική Σχολή Αθηνών, στο Μικροβιολογικό Εργαστήριο του Αιγινητείου Νοσοκομείου.
