Το όζον στο Λεκανοπέδιο των Αθηνών σοβαρός κίνδυνος για τους αθλούμενους.

Εισαγωγή

Ολο και πιο πολλοί Αθηναίοι αποφασίζουν να αθληθούν κάνοντας κάποια μορφή σωματικής άσκησης σε ανοιχτό χώρο. Ομως το ερώτημα είναι εάν αυτό είναι επικίνδυνο με δεδομένο τις υψηλές τιμές των πρωτογενών και δευτερογενών ρύπων στην Αθήνα.

Το «καλό» και το «κακό» όζον.

Πριν συνεχίσουμε είναι απαραίτητο να διευκρινήσουμε για ποια περίπτωση μιλάμε. Εχουμε ακούσει για το όζον και την σημασία του στην προστασία της ανθρώπινης ζωής από την υπεριώδη ακτινοβολία. Πρόκειται για το «στρώμα» όζοντος στην στρατόσφαιρα, δηλαδή από τα 10 έως τα 40 χλμ από την επιφάνεια της γης. Στην τροπόσφαιρα (μέχρι και 10χλμ πάνω από την επιφάνεια της γης) το όζον είναι ένας επιβλαβής δευτερογενής ρύπος που προκαλεί ζημιά στους πνεύμονες του ανθρώπου.

 

Το φωτοχημικό νέφος του Λεκανοπεδίου της Αθήνας.

Οπως είναι γνωστό στην Αθήνα υπάρχει φωτοχημικό νέφος – τύπου Λος Αντζελες. Για να δημιουργηθεί αυτό το νέφος απαιτούνται πρωτογενείς ρύποι (όπως τα οξείδια του αζώτου και υδρογονάνθρακες) από μία ελάχιστη τιμή και πάνω καθώς να έχουμε υψηλή ηλιακή ακτινοβολία (ηλιοφάνεια). Βέβαια αυτοί οι παράγοντες είναι απαραίτητες προυποθέσεις όχι και ικανές για την δημιουργία του νέφους. Αυτό που απαιτείται συνθήκες άπνοιας, λόφοι-βουνά για την παγίδευση του αέρα και θερμοκρασιακές αναστροφές. Στο λεκανοπέδιο αυτοί οι παράγοντεςς υπάρχουν και έτσι έχουμε μέρες με υψηλές τιμές ρύπων. Τι μας σώζει ; Η διάταξη των βουνών που αφήνουν πέρασμα στο να φεύγουν οι ρύποι όταν φυσάει από βορεια – βορειοανατολικά ή και από νότια-νοτιοδυτικά.Επίσης η μικρή σχετικά έκταση του Λεκανοπεδίου βοηθάει σημαντικά καθώς πολύ εύκολα απομακρύνονται οι πρωτογενείς ρύποι από το λεκανοπέδιο προς σαρωνικό πριν να έχουμε τον σχηματισμό δευτερογενών ρύπων.

 

Σημαντική η καθημερινή μας ενημέρωση για τις τιμές του όζοντος στους διάφορους σταθμούς

Είναι σημαντικό να κοιτάζουμε τις τιμές του όζοντος που ανακοινώνει το Υπουργείο Περιβάλλοντος π.χ. στην Νέα Σμύρνη στις 19/09 είχαμε μέτρησεις μέχρι 146 μg/m3 (Όρια : ενημέρωσης κοινού 180 μg/m3 — συναγερμού 240 μg/m3). Να σημειώσουμε ότι υπάρχουν μελετητές που αναφέρουν ότι ακόμα και συγκεντρώσεις 120μg/m3 μπορούν να προκαλέσουν προβλήματα στην υγεία μας κατά την διάρκεια της άθλησης

Ομως ακόμα και χωρίς την ενημέρωση από το Υπουργείο μπορούμε να καταλάβουμε ποιες μέρες θα έχουμε υψηλές τιμές όζοντος και σε ποιες περιοχές ανάλογα με τους παραπάνω παράγοντες που αναφέραμε.

Στις μετρήσεις που είχαν γίνει από το 1979 από το ΠΕΡΠΑ είχε φανεί ότι οι τιμές του όζοντος είναι χαμηλές πριν τις 8 το πρωί, παρουσιάζουν peak – ανάλογα με την περιοχή- από τις 11 έως τις 15:00 και πέφτουν οι τιμές αργά το απόγευμα.

 

 

Οζον και άθληση

Το όζον είναι ότι πιο τοξικό υπάρχει και μειώνει δραστικά τις αθλητικές επιδόσεις. Εχει οξειδωτική δράση και περιορίζει την την αναπνευστική μας λειτουργία. Στην καλιφόρνια έχουν κάνει αρκετές έρευνες και έχουν παρατηρήσει σημαντική μείωση των αθλητικών επιδόσεων σε ημέρες με υψηλές τιμές όζοντος.  Είναι σαφές ότι η άσκσηση απαιτεί πιο έντονη λειτουργία των πνευμόνων (αναπνέουμε πιο βαθιά και έτσι το όζον διεισδύει πιο βαθιά στα «αγωγούς» του σώματός μας) και έτσι οι συνέπειες του όζοντος είναι πολύ πιο έντονες σε αυτούς που αθλούνται από αυτούς που απλά υπάρχει σε ένα περιβάλλον με συγκεκριμένη συγκέντρωση όζοντος.

Φυσικά ακόμα και σε κλειστό περιβάλλον έχουμε επιπτώσεις στην υγεία μας. Η συγκέντρωση σε κλειστούς χώρους κυμαίνεται από 20 έως και 80% του εξωτερικού περιβάλλοντος ανάλογα με τον αερισμό και τις ιδιατερότητες του χώρου.

Η παρατεταμένη έκθεση στο οζον μπορεί να προκαλέσει πνευμονική κυστική ίνωση και εμφύσημα.

Οι μελέτες δείχνου ότι ο άνθρωπος παρουσιάζει προσαρμοστικότητα στην άθληση στο όζον – αναφορικά με τα αθλητικά αποτελέσματα- χωρίς αυτό να σημαίνει ότι μειώνονται οι κίνδυνοι στην υγεία του.

Είναι θεωρούμε περιττό να τονίσουμε ότι άνθρωποι με ασθένειας του αναπνευστικού, ηλικιωμένοι, άνθρωποι με άσθμα αλλά και νεαροί αθλητές έχουν πιο έντονες παρενέργειες από την άθληση σε περιβάλλον με υψηλή συγκέντρωση όζοντος και ρύπων γενικότερα.

Τα συμπτώματα από την επίδραση του όζοντος είναι βήχας, ερεθισμός του λαιμού, κάψιμο/ πόνος και δυσφορία στο στήθος, αίσθηση έλλειψης αναπνοής κ.λπ.

 

Συμπέρασμα

Είναι εξαιρετικό ότι σιγά όλο και περισσότεροι έλληνες αθλούνται και ότι διοργανώνονται αγώνες αντοχής στο κέντρο της Αθήνας.

Ελπίζουμε όμως ότι οι αθλούμενοι θα γίνουν πιο ευαίσθητοι στην επιδραση της ρύπανσης της υγείας τους καθώς και ότι διοργανωτές μεγάλων αθλητικών διοργανώσεων στην Ελλάδα θα δείξουν μεγαλύτερη υπευθυνότητα και θα ενημερώνουν τους αθλούμενους σχετικά.
