Η ελληνική ομοσπονδία ποδηλασίας βράβευσε τους κορυφαίους αθλητές και αθλήτριες για το 2011. Σε μια λαμπρή τελετή που πραγματοποιήθηκε ολυμπιακό ποδηλατοδρόμιο Αθηνών, η ΕΟΠ και ο πρόεδρος της Θανάσης Τερζής έδωσαν το σύνθημα για τις μεγάλες διοργανώσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Τον Γύρο Ελλάδας και τους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Λονδίνου. Την εκδήλωση τίμησε με την παρουσία του ο Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού και Τουρισμού Γιώργος Νικητιάδης. Στην κατάμεστη αίθουσα του ΟΑΚΑ παρουσιάστηκαν όλες οι μεγάλες επιτυχίες της ελληνικής ποδηλασίας της χρονιάς που πέρασε, με τον πρόεδρο Θανάση Τερζή να κάνει ιδιαίτερη αναφορά στο μέλλον του αθλήματος. Οι αθλητές και οι αθλήτριες υποσχέθηκαν ανάλογη συνέχεια και το 2012.
Γιώργος Νικητιάδης- Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού-Τουρισμού-Αθλητισμού: “Ζούμε τις πιο σημαντικές στιγμές για την πορεία της χώρας μας λόγω των οικονομικών συγκυριών όμως έκρινα να είμαι εδώ στην τελετή βράβευσης για πολλούς λόγους. Κατάγομαι από την Κω που είναι ένα νησί όπου το ποδήλατο είναι κυρίως μεταφορικό μέσο. Έχω συνεργάτη και φίλο τον πρόεδρο της ομοσπονδίας Θανάση Τερζή, ο οποίος έχει συμβάλλει τα μέγιστα για την ανάπτυξη του αθλήματος στην Ελλάδα. Να ευχηθώ σε όλους, αθλητές και αθλήτριες καλή επιτυχία και για το 2012. Για άλλους η ζωή είναι ένα ποδήλατο, από το οποίο μπορούμε να βγούμε νικητές. Η πολιτεία εύχομαι να βοηθήσει ακόμη περισσότερο το άθλημα προκειμένου να αξιοποιήσει την δυναμική του. Το ποδήλατο είναι διασκέδαση, είναι μέσο μεταφοράς, είναι οι σπουδαίες επιτυχίες των Ελλήνων αθλητών σε όλο τον κόσμο”.

“Οι διακρίσεις που επετεύχθησαν σε προολυμπιακή χρονιά αποδεικνύουν ότι ακόμη και σε χαλεπούς καιρούς με την οικονομική κρίση που πλήττει την χώρα μας, η ελληνική ποδηλασία εξακολουθεί να μας κάνει περήφανους. Η χρονιά που πέρασε ήταν πολύ δύσκολη για εμάς, την διοίκηση της ελληνικής ομοσπονδίας ποδηλασίας. Γνωρίζοντας ότι τα οικονομικά της χώρας και τις επιχορηγήσεις από την πολιτεία θα ήταν περιορισμένες, έπρεπε να θέσουμε προτεραιότητες για να μπορέσουμε να ανταποκριθούμε στις ανάγκες του αθλήματος και στους υψηλούς στόχους των αθλητών μας. Ο Γύρος Ελλάδας ήταν για εμάς πρώτη προτεραιότητα, μια μεγάλη ποδηλατική διοργάνωση στη χώρα μας με την συμμετοχή μεγάλων επαγγελματικών ομάδων από όλο τον κόσμο, που αναδεικνύει και προβάλλει την χώρα μας και στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό. Καταφέραμε με την βοήθεια της πολιτείας, άλλα και με την συμπαράσταση των χορηγών μας, την ΟΠΑΠ ΑΕ, την POST BANK και τον ΕΟΤ και τους άλλους μικρότερους χορηγούς μας, να ολοκληρωθεί ένας γύρος υψηλών αγωνιστικών προδιαγραφών.
Πρέπει λοιπόν όλοι μαζί χωρίς μιζέριες και μεγάλα λόγια να εγγυηθούμε την ενότητα του αθλήματος και με σωστή διαχείριση, με προτεραιότητες και στόχους να καταφέρουμε να κάνουμε τους Έλληνες περήφανους στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Λονδίνου το 2012. Η ελληνική ποδηλασία δεν μπορεί να μένει στη σκιά, κάθε άθλημα κρίνεται από το έμψυχο υλικό που διαθέτει, την μαζικότητα, την κοινωνική παρέμβαση και τις επιτυχίες. Νομίζω ότι το άθλημα μας βρίσκεται πλέον στις πρώτες θέσεις των αθλημάτων με μεγάλες επιτυχίες”.
Κλέων Παπαδόπουλος: Πρόεδρος POST BANK Ταχυδρομικό Ταμιευτήριο: “Αυτή την εποχή, την δύσκολη εποχή θέλουμε ανθρώπους με όραμα και έμπνευση. Όταν ήρθε στο γραφείο μου ο Θανάσης Τερζής για να μιλήσουμε για τον Γύρο Ελλάδας, είδα ότι οι άνθρωποι της ελληνικής ομοσπονδίας έχουν στον μυαλό τους κάτι πολύ μεγάλο για την ανάπτυξη του αθλήματος. Θεωρήσαμε και θεωρούμε ότι πρέπει να συμβάλουμε για να αναδείξουμε το ταλέντο των Ελλήνων αθλητών και τις φυσικές ομορφιές της Ελλάδας. Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους ποδηλάτες που προκρίθηκαν στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του Λονδίνου. Θέλω να ξέρετε ότι θα είμαστε δίπλα σε όλους τους αθλητές και όχι μόνο στους πρωταθλητές. Να ξέρουν ότι δεν είναι μόνοι”.
Γιάννης Ταμουρίδης: Πρωταθλητής Ελλάδας: “Η φετινή χρονιά είναι πολύ δύσκολη, όπως και η περσινή. Υπάρχει η πρόκληση των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων του Λονδίνου και ο σπουδαίος αγώνας στη χώρα μας, ο Γύρος Ελλάδας. Θέλω να συνεχίσω την προσπάθεια με την ίδια ένταση και να πάρω μέρος σε αυτές τις δύο μεγάλες διοργανώσεις χωρίς να έχω τραυματισμούς”.
