Το μετάλλιο κέρδισε ο πρωταθλητής μας Χρήστος Βολικάκης στο αγώνισμα κέϊριν, αφού μετά από εκπληκτική εμφάνιση κατάφερε να ανέβει στο δεύτερο σκαλί του βάθρου, πίσω από τον Βρετανό Κράμπτον, από τον οποίο έχασε κυριολεκτικά πάνω στο νήμα. Με την επιτυχία του αυτή ο διεθνής μας απέδειξε ότι δίκαια βρίσκεται στους κορυφαίους αθλητές του αγωνίσματος στον κόσμο και έκανε ένα ακόμη σημαντικό βήμα για την πρόκρισή του στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες του 2012. Την τρίτη θέση πήρε ο Γάλλος Περβίς, ενώ ο μικρός αδελφός του Χρήστου, Ζαφείρης Βολικάκης δεν κατάφερε να προκριθεί στον δεύτερο γύρο του αγωνίσματος. Ο Χρήστος Βολικάκης αγωνίστηκε και στο αγώνισμα ταχύτητας, όπου με χρόνο 10΄΄593/1000 κατέλαβε την 18η θέση, ενώ ο Ζαφείρης Βολικάκης με 10΄΄794/1000 την 22η.
