O Fabian Cancellara δήλωσε μετά την ήττα του ότι δεν είναι ρομπότ και ότι όλοι έχουν μία κακή μέρα. Επίσης πρόσθεσε ότι αισθανόταν καλά αλλά όταν ξεκίνησε την ατομική χρονομέτρηση κατάλαβε ότι δεν ήταν η μέρα του κι ότι αναγκάστηκε να ρισκάρει αρκετά ….και ότι είναι πολύ χαρούμενος που έμεινε πάνω στο ποδήλατό του.Εμείς που όπως και πολύ έλληνες είμαστε φαν του Ελβετού -που τον είχαμε πριν αρκετά χρόνια όταν ήταν ακόμα στην Mapei και κέρδιζε τον γύρο της Ρόδου- στεναχωρηθήκαμε πολύ για την ήττα του και ελπίζουμε να μην το τέλος εποχής για την κυριαρχία του στην ατομική χρονομέτρηση. Οι μόνοι που μάλλον δεν στεναχωρήθηκαν και πάρα πολύ ήταν οι άνθρωποι της Specialized καθώς ο νικητής έτρεξε με Specialized Shiv όπως και ο Cancellara πέρσι που είχε κερδίσει το Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα. Αλλαγή παγκόσμιου πρωταθλητή αναφορικά με τον αθλητή όχι όμως και αναφορικά με το ποδήλατο . (Σημείωση : Είναι το ίδιο ποδήλατο με το οποίο ο Chris McCormack κέρδισε την Kona).
Ομως πέρα από την ήττα του Cancellara στον αγώνα είχαμε και ελληνικό ενδιαφέρον με τον Ταμουρίδη να τερματίζει στην πολύ τιμητική και τουλάχιστον αξιοπρεπέστατη 30η θέση.
Ο Έλληνας πρωταθλητής δήλωσε αμέσως μετά μέσα από το Facebook και στην προσωπική του ιστοσελίδα:
‘Κρυφός μου στόχος για αυτό το Παγκόσμιο αποτελούσε η 20αδα! Βέβαια χθες το βράδυ, όταν πήρα την λίστα με τις συμμετοχές, προσγειώθηκα λίγο μελετώντας τους αθλητές και διαπιστώνοντας τις περγαμηνές που είχε καθένας από αυτούς στο συγκεκριμένο αγώνισμα. Φοβήθηκα λίγο να πω την αλήθεια, σκέφτηκα οτι υστερούσα…ΣΕ ΟΛΑ, εκτός από την ψυχή.Και έτσι θα έτρεχα! Σαν να ήμουν κι εγώ αθλητής Pro Tour! Τελικά είδα οτι δεν έχω να ζηλέψω και πολλά πέρα από τα υπέρογκα τους συμβόλαια! Μπορεί τα 5’ από τον ´διαστημικό´ Tony Martin να φαίνονται υπερβολικά αλλά τα 30” από την 20αδα και το 1’.30” από την 10άδα δεν είναι και τόσο για κάποιον που τρέχει αγώνες στα Βαλκάνια για προετοιμασία! Τελικό αποτέλεσμα, 30ς, που με γεμίζει με μαγαλύτερες προσδοκίες για το μέλλον!’
