Κείμενο : Συντακτική Ομάδα Cycling World. Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα έγινα μάρτυρας της εξής συζήτησης μεταξύ δύο αθλητών ποδηλασίας, ενός έμπειρου ποδηλάτη και ενός νεοεισερχομένου. Ο «παλιός» συμβούλευε τον νέο σχετικά με διάφορα ζητήματα που αφορούσαν το ποδήλατο. Ο νέος επέμεινε στο θέμα της σέλας καθώς όπως έλεγε δεν μπορούσε να καθήσει καλά. Ο έμπειρος ποδηλάτης τον συμβούλεψε να δοκιμάσει αρκετές σέλες και να δει ποια είναι αυτή που του ταιριάζει και πρόσθεσε ότι δεν υπάρχει κανόνας στην επιλογή της σέλας. Οπως του είπε αυτό είναι θέμα εμπειρίας και ότι και οι επαγγελματίες πειραματίζονται μέχρι να βρουν την σέλα που τους ταιριάζει.
Επικοινώνησα με τον συνεργάτη του περιοδικού μας τον Φυσιοθεραπευτή κ. Κουράκο Βασίλη ο οποίος έχει κάνει μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στην Ασυτραλία πάνω σε θέματα βιομηχανικής του αθλητισμού και ως πιστοποιημένος του BG Fit γνωρίζει καλύτερα από οποιονδήποτε αυτά τα ζητήματα. Οπως μου είπε «Δυστυχώς αυτή είναι η αντίληψη που έχει η πλειοψηφία των αθλητών για την επιλογή της σέλας.» Δηλαδή «δοκίμασε διάφορες σέλλες και όποια σε βολεύει και δεν σε ενοχλεί στις ευαίσθητες περιοχές αυτή προτίμησε, φυικά εφόσον δεν ανεβάζει πολύ το βάρος του ποδηλάτου». Ο κ. Κουράκος μου προσέθεσε ότι 90% των ποδηλατών στην Ελλάδα έχουν επιλέξει λάθος σέλα με αποτέλεσμα να έχουν τα εξής προβλήματα:
- Να μην ακουμπάνε τα κόκκαλα της λεκάνης στην σέλα και όταν συμβαίνει αυτό ο αθλητής για να περιορίσει τις ενοχλήσεις στις ευαίσθητες περιοχές να κάθεται είτε προς αριστερά είτε προς τα δεξιά και έτσι να υιοθετήσει μία λάθος θέση πάνω στο ποδήλατο καθώς και ένα τελείως λάθος πεταλάρισμα. Αυτό όπως είναι φυσικό πέρα από την μείωση της ισχύος που μπορεί να παράγει ο αθλητής έχει και ως συνέπεια να μην μπορεί να αλλάξει αυτή την λάθος τεχνική. Συνήθως οι περισσότεροι αθλητές αγοράζουν σέλες μικρότερου πλάτους καθώς οπτικά δείχνουν πιο εντυπωσιακές και εκεί ερχίζουν όλα τα προβλήματα.
- Να έχει έντονες ενοχλήσεις στην ευαίσθητη περιοχή
- Να «χοροπηδάει πάνω στην σέλα».
- Να αναγκάζεται να κάνει πολλές αλλαγές στο στήσιμο του ποδηλάτου καθώς κάτι τον ενοχλεί αλλά δεν μπορεί να καταλάβει τί;
- Να βγαίνουν τραυματισμοί συνήθως στα γόνατας και στην μέση.
