Bike fitting με το μάτι;

Εισαγωγή
Μία από τις πιο συνηθισμένες ερωτήσεις που δέχεται ένας προπονητής ποδηλασίας ή τριάθλου, τις περισσότερες φορές κατά τη διάρκεια της προπόνησης, από έναν αθλητή είναι κατά πόσο κάθεται καλά πάνω στο ποδήλατο.
Θεωρώ και με τα παρακάτω θα προσπαθήσουμε να το αποδείξουμε πόσο λάθος και τελείως «αντιεπαγγελματικό» είναι να εκφέρουμε γνώμη για το στήσιμο ενός αθλητή πάνω στο ποδήλατο με τόσο πρόχειρο τρόπο.
Ακόμα και ο Eddy Merkcx να είσαι κάνεις λάθος.
Ας αναφέρουμε ένα περιστατικό για να καταλάβετε τη διάσταση του θέματος. Ο Eddy Merckx που είναι ο μεγαλύτερος ποδηλάτης όλων των εποχών και κατασκευαστής ποδηλάτων, ήταν χορηγός σε Αμερικάνικη επαγγελματική ομάδα ποδηλασίας στην 7 Eleven. Ο ίδιος είχε ψύχωση με τη σημασία του bike fitting και πάντοτε είχε μαζί του κλειδιά άλλεν ώστε να μπορεί να κάνει τις απαραίτητες ρυθμίσεις στο ποδήλατο. Ακόμα και βίντεο είχε κυκλοφορήσει όπου τον έδειχνε κατά την διάρκεια του Paris Roubaix να κάνει σχετικές αλλαγές το ύψος της σέλας.
O Merckx δαπανούσε πολύ χρόνο για να βοηθήσει στο στήσιμο των αθλητών της ομάδας στην οποία ήταν χορηγός. Κατά τη διάρκεια της προπόνησης των αθλητών, παρατηρούσε τους αθλητές της ομάδας και έκανε συστάσεις και διορθώσεις για το στήσιμο των αθλητών πάνω στο ποδήλατο.
Κάποια στιγμή κατά τη διάρκεια της προπόνησης πήγε στον Davis Phinney και του λέει ότι πρέπει να ανεβάσει λίγο τη σέλα.
Σε κάποιο φανάρι οι αθλητές της ομάδας σταμάτησαν και έκαναν τις αλλαγές στο στήσιμο που τους υπέδειξε ο Merckx. Ο Phinney που δεν του άρεσε να κάνει αλλαγές έτσι πρόχειρα αλλά ταυτόγχρονα επειδή σεβόταν πολύ – όπως όλοι οι ποδηλάτες – τον Eddy Merkcx προσποιήθηκε ότι έκανε αλλαγές. Υστερα συνέχισαν την προπόνηση. Ο Eddy Merckx τον πλησίασε ύστερα από κάποια χιλιόμετρα και αφού τον παρατήρησε του συνέστησε να κατεβάσει λίγο τη σέλα.
Εάν το πολύ έμπειρο μάτι του Eddy Merckx πέφτει τόσο έξω τότε κανένας δεν μπορεί να κάνει bike fitting με το μάτι.
Αντίστοιχα είχα την ίδια εμπειρία με αθλητή. Έμοιαζε να κάθεται άσχημα πάνω στο ποδήλατο. Όμως όταν βγάλαμε τα εργαλεία όλες οι ρυθμίσεις, αποστάσεις και γωνίες ήταν απόλυτα σωστές.
